Show Your Stuff ~ Talent Show REMINDER
Every year WES holds a celebratory, community-building talent show in which students are given the opportunity to demonstrate a talent or skill on stage at the Town Hall Theater. This year we invite our Prosper Valley School friends to join us in creating an EPIC show! Friendship groups between Prosper Valley and Woodstock Elementary students are encouraged to join together and build an act.
Students interested in participating in this action-packed, fun-filled, mind-bending spectacle should have a parent complete the online Show Your Stuff Sign-Up & Contract by Monday, February 4. See office staff in the event you do not have internet access. Please keep in mind that the contract is a commitment by parents and participants that the act will be practiced regularly and performed as it has been described.
  • Acts are limited to two minutes, thirty seconds
  • Karaoke music is allowed but no lip-syncing or singing along with original artists
  • Parents are responsible for providing music and editing songs - given enough lead time, Mr. Mumford can give guidance
  • All lyrics must be content and language appropriate
  • Students may participate in only one performance
  • Performers must attend the try out and the dress rehearsal
  • Act content/components must be appropriate for all students in the audience

Mark the following dates on your calendar:
  • Try-Out at Town Hall TheaterThursday, April 4, from 3:00 -  6:00ish
  • Dress Rehearsal at Town Hall TheaterMonday, April 8, from 3:00 - 6:00ish
  • Show Your Stuff at Town Hall Theater Friday, April 12, TBD (mid-day)

TPVS and WES COLLABORATION!

The Prosper Valley School and Woodstock Elementary School gathered together on Wednesday to launch "Heartfelt Help for the Hungry," a TPVS tradition of resupplying area food shelves that we are melding with the past WES tradition of giving Winter Wishes. Instead of giving wishes to one another this year, we will do this winter community service project with TPVS.
Students were arranged in vertical teams, K-6, intermingling WES and TPVS students and staff.  The purpose of this first assembly and team meetings was to do an icebreaker activity as combined WES and TPVS vertical teams that will help us move towards the larger goal of running a successful food drive.  The assembly took place during the normal time of the TPVS all-school assembly.  Next week, we will all meet again on Wednesday during the time usually set aside for the WES Wonderful Wednesday assembly, when we paint boxes to hold different categories of donations.

Girls on the Run is Coming to Our School!!!

Girls on the Run is coming to Woodstock Elementary School this Spring!
What is Girls on the Run? Over a period of 10 weeks, girls in 3rd through 5th grades can participate in an after-school program like no other. The Girls on the Run lessons encourage positive emotional, social, mental, and physical development. They develop important strategies and skills to help them navigate life experiences. Physical activity is woven into our program to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a lifetime of health. At the end of the season, the girls participate in our Girls on the Run Vermont 5k event. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of the curriculum. Completing the 5k gives the girls a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals.
Why it Matters:  A recent national independent longitudinal study led by Dr. Maureen Weiss, an expert in positive youth development, found that the combination of Girls on the Run’s intentional life skills curriculum and highly trained coaches is key to our program’s impact. Overall, the study showed that participating in Girls on the Run transformed girls’ lives by helping them increase their self-confidence, develop healthy relationships, and feel good about themselves, inside and out.

What You Need to Know: GOTR is a spring program that starts the first week of March and runs through May. Sessions meet twice a week for 90 minutes each.   We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30. We will be attending the fabulous Brattleboro 5K on Saturday, May 18!
Program registration will open on Monday, February 4.
The registration fee is $100.
Registration will be online.
Girls on the Run Vermont has limited financial assistance available to those who truly need it. GOTR is committed to being accessible to any girl who wants to participate, and is dedicated to ensuring that the program cost is not a barrier to participation.  We will work with families to offer financial assistance that are not eligible through the Household Income scale.
GOTRVT also provides a $25 Sibling Discount when paying the full registration fee of $100 for families registering more than one participant on the same form. (Please use code SIBLING during registration) For questions, please contact Coach Davie at Ldavie@wcsu.net or 802-393-GOTR or Girls on the Run at:802-871-5664 or info@girlsontherunvermont.org
We are truly looking forward to a fantastic season!
