As part of our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS), we began this week recognizing students who consistently do a fantastic job demonstrating our three school rules: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Ready to Learn. Our goal is to recognize one to two students from each class each week. Students will be announced weekly and receive a certificate to take home as well as a bracelet. A copy of their certificate will also go on our paw print bulletin board outside the office.

The weather is changing quickly! Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the colder weather. If your child is in need of a winter jacket, please contact myself or Mrs. Klocek.  Donations of gently used snow pants, gloves, and mittens are also appreciated at this time. Our students often get wet and dirty playing outside this time of year. A change of clothing (especially for the younger students) is always helpful to have available. I do have some clothing available in the nurse office for these situations but the supply and sizes are limited. If your child comes home in clothing borrowed from the nurse office, please wash and return it at your earliest convenience so it is available for the next student who may need it. Have a safe and healthy Fall!

A group of 5th and 6th grade students was recently invited to help paint a Ken Woodhead sculpture bench that he created for the Norman Williams Library. WES art teacher Brooke Piana, Sculpturefest and WES art volunteer Charlet Davenport, and Ken Woodward guided the students in designing and painting the sculpture.

Hurricane Relief Project
Sponsored by the WES Student Council

The Woodstock Elementary School Student Council is proud to announce a partnership with the Mittelstadt Elementary School near Houston, Texas. Mittelstadt Elementary School was affected a lot by Hurricane Harvey and we are reaching out to WES families to help us help those affected.
Mittelstadt Elementary School has 857 students and 55 teachers, most of whom were affected by the hurricane.
We have connected with one of the third grade teachers at the school, Katherine Fox.  She is helping us coordinate our response to the hurricane. Seventy families from the school and five teachers lost everything in the flooding.
We are collecting monetary donations to purchase gift cards that Ms. Fox will help to distribute to those who are in need.  Any amount helps!  We are also asking all WES students to create a card for a student at Mittelstadt, to comfort them about their losses.
We hope that we can make a difference.
Students will get envelopes with cards and information about this project.  We ask that donations and cards be returned to the WES main office by Friday, October 27th
Thank you for your support!
