If you want to stay at your current school, no action is needed - your child will automatically stay enrolled at your local school.
In the fall of 2018, the Windsor Central Unified District (WCUD) began offering parents and guardians elementary school choice for their students within the district. The choice of the school venue is guided by the needs of students, parents, and the district, and will adhere to the WCUD process and guidelines. Students from Bridgewater, Killington, Reading, Plymouth, Woodstock, and Pomfret are eligible to apply for school choice.

TPVS and WES HEARTFELT HELP COLLABORATION CONTINUES
The Prosper Valley School and Woodstock Elementary School gathered together in their vertical teams again on Wednesday to continue the Heartfelt Help for the Hungry project. The TPVS and WES teams decorated their team boxes for the food drive and learned about the schedule for collecting items.
We are excited that TVPS and WES are partnering to help the Woodstock Community Food Shelf with its mission of maintaining an open, well-stocked food shelf for our neighbors in times of need. Items will be collected Thursday, February 7 - Wednesday, March 13. Over the course of the food drive, student groups from both schools will rotate through all of the themes below, collecting what they can over the course of a week’s time. Families are asked to participate in a way that is both comfortable and meaningful for them. Prior to dropping items off in the lobby collection boxes, please check expiration dates to ensure they have not passed their prime. Many thanks to all for your support in this endeavor!

Girls on the Run is Coming to Our School!!!
Girls on the Run is coming to Woodstock Elementary School this Spring!
What is Girls on the Run? Over a period of 10 weeks, girls in 3rd through 5th grades can participate in an after-school program like no other. The Girls on the Run lessons encourage positive emotional, social, mental, and physical development. They develop important strategies and skills to help them navigate life experiences. Physical activity is woven into our program to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a lifetime of health. At the end of the season, the girls participate in our Girls on the Run Vermont 5k event. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of the curriculum. Completing the 5k gives the girls a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals.

Why it Matters: A recent national independent longitudinal study led by Dr. Maureen Weiss, an expert in positive youth development, found that the combination of Girls on the Run’s intentional life skills curriculum and highly trained coaches is key to our program’s impact. Overall, the study showed that participating in Girls on the Run transformed girls’ lives by helping them increase their self-confidence, develop healthy relationships, and feel good about themselves, inside and out.
What You Need to Know: GOTR is a spring program that starts the first week of March and runs through May. Sessions meet twice a week for 90 minutes each. We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30. We will be attending the fabulous Brattleboro 5K on Saturday, May 18!

Woodstock Ski Runners Nordic Racers Compete
We have many students who participate in winter sports in our community. Thank you to Angel Rubino for sharing that sixth graders Jane and Quinn recently took first place in a nordic biathlon competition.
